What is the present progressive

If you want to talk about something that is happening right now at the moment, you have to use the present progressive.

But there are a few things you need to know before you can use it.

Creating a sentence

  • form of to be (am, are, is)
  • verb in infinitive
  • -ing attached at the verb ending

Examples:

I am eating.

You are eating.

He is eating.

We are eating.

You are eating.

They are eating.


Signal words

now, at the moment, Look!, Listen!

Examples:

I am eating pizza at the moment.

Listen! I am speaking to you.
